PTSD Treatment Centers Georgia

PTSD can make day to day life difficult for those who have suffered trauma. For this reason, PTSD treatment centers in Georgia focus on identifying the underlying causes of this condition while teaching healthy coping mechanisms and improved responses to stress. Thoroughbred Wellness and Recovery addresses PTSD along with co-occurring substance misuse, as the two often go hand-in-hand. Our outpatient center is dedicated to providing exceptional treatment to those struggling with trauma and addiction.

What is PTSD Treatment?

PTSD treatment addresses the root cause of the disorder while helping individuals learn ways to identify, confront, and cope with their trauma(s). Several techniques are used at PTSD treatment centers in Georgia. These often include:
Those with PTSD can benefit from discussing their trauma and how it continues to affect them both emotionally and psychologically. Overall, trauma therapy promotes healing and resilience.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) assists those with PTSD in processing and healing from painful memories. This technique involves guided eye movements to help reframe and reduce the emotional response associated with traumatic memories.

Similar to EMDR, this type of therapeutic technique centers around guided eye movements and imagery. It allows participants to reprocess and resolve trauma, often very quickly.
The goal of RRT is to reduce, or even, eliminate the emotional affects of trauma. This is accomplished through a combination of cognitive strategies, hypnosis, and guided imagery.
Thoroughbred Wellness and Recovery is proud to offer equine-assisted therapy, which involves caring for and leading horses. This helps those with PTSD by cultivating trust, emotional awareness, and problem solving skills.
Those struggling with PTSD can also benefit from the other therapeutic services offered at our facility. These include:

How Do I Know I Need PTSD Treatment?

If you or a loved one is suffering from the painful effects of trauma, treatment can help. Though it is common for individuals to struggle with trauma, flashbacks and severe stress responses highlight a need for professional intervention. Taking the first step towards recovery can be difficult, but PTSD treatment allows individuals to regain a sense of control and security.

Unfortunately, untreated PTSD can lead to drug addiction and alcoholism. This toxic dependency only worsens a person’s condition. Thoroughbred Wellness and Recovery has programs specifically designed to treat both addiction and co-occurring PTSD simultaneously.

What is PTSD?

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a complex mental health condition that stems from a single traumatic event or multiple traumatic events. Traumatic events include those that are shocking, upsetting, or scary. Examples of these situations include military hardships, natural disasters, car accidents, and witnessing traumatic events such as death or serious injury. Additionally, different forms of abuse are often linked to PTSD. These include but are not limited to emotional, sexual, and physical abuse.

Those with PTSD may experience reoccurring flashbacks and nightmares centered around their past traumas. These episodes can continue for weeks, months, or even years. PTSD symptoms surface when a situation triggers memories of an individual’s trauma—thus causing an intense emotional and/or physical reaction.

Signs and Symptoms of PTSD
