Rapid Resolution Therapy

Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) is a type of experiential treatment that aims to effectively reduce the emotional response associated with past traumas. It helps those grappling with PTSD and unresolved trauma along with addiction and other mental health conditions. Thoroughbred Wellness and Recovery is proud to offer Rapid Resolution Therapy in Georgia as it provides individuals with quick, yet lasting symptom relief—setting the stage for ongoing recovery.

What is Rapid Resolution Therapy? How Does It Work?

Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), developed by Dr. Jon Connolly, is a contemporary approach designed to assist those struggling with trauma and other mental health issues in identifying and addressing the underlying causes of their symptoms. Initially crafted for combat veterans and survivors of abuse, RRT has proven beneficial to individuals facing a variety of issues. The therapy is designed to effectively address the repetitive cycle of traumatic memories, which often lead to persistent and negative emotional responses.

RRT uses techniques such as storytelling, guided imagery, and creative exercises to create new neural pathways that do not trigger the same emotional reactions as the initial trauma. This process essentially “resets” the brain, reducing emotional pain and reactions to traumatic thoughts. The therapy is straightforward and typically completed in two to six sessions, offering a pathway to a greater sense of tranquility and overall improved mental well-being.

Who Can RRT Benefit?

RRT can greatly benefit survivors of trauma. Trauma can stem from several painful experiences, including different forms of abuse, natural disasters, military hardships, witnessing tragedy, accidents, and other upsetting events. In RRT, the underlying causes of trauma and PTSD are identified and addressed to aid individuals in regaining control of their lives.

RRT can also help those struggling with mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder, as it teaches effective strategies for managing negative feelings and stress. Additionally, this form of therapy can help those with addiction and alcoholism, as these conditions are often associated with poor mental health and trauma. By reprocessing the root causes and emotions contributing to these disorders, RRT allows individuals to enhance coping skills and improve their overall quality of life.

What To Expect In An RRT Session?

An initial RRT session begins with an evaluation. During this, a qualified therapist garners information about the individual’s general history and treatment goals. In the following sessions, the therapist takes the client through a series of techniques developed to identify and resolve underlying emotional issues.

This type of therapeutic modality is collaborative, with the therapist and client working together to cite and reprocess negative feelings and traumatic memories. Every session is specially designed to address each individual’s unique needs, as it is important to Thoroughbred Wellness and Recovery that every client receives a personalized approach to treatment.

Benefits of RRT

RRT mostly focuses on resolving emotional and mental issues. However, it can also be associated with physical benefits. Symptoms related to stress, such as headaches, muscle tension, and fatigue, can be greatly reduced as emotional anguish dissipates.

Thoroughbred Wellness and Recovery emphasizes a holistic approach to healing, meaning our ultimate goal is to heal a person’s mind, body, and spirit. By addressing trauma, RRT encourages the body’s natural healing processes—thus, promoting overall health.

Another notable benefit of RRT is its efficiency. This type of experiential therapy promotes quick and lasting results. After only a few sessions, clients typically experience less anxiety, depression, fear, and other negative feelings.

Overall, Rapid Resolution Therapy revives an individual’s sense of peace, self-worth, and purpose. These improvements trickle into other facets of a person’s life—resulting in a fulfilling life, both personally and professionally.

Our Programs That Offer RRT

Our Marietta based center is proud to offer a full continuum of outpatient programming. We combine a variety of experiential and evidence-based treatment interventions into these programs to encourage long-term recovery for our clients. Because our treatment is outpatient, clients are able to return home after treatment or to a sober living facility. We integrate Rapid Resolution Therapy into the following program types:

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): The most structured form of intensive treatment available at Thoroughbred Wellness and Recovery is our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). PHP sessions take place five days a week, with each session lasting about four hours.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): Our IOP is often used as a step down from higher levels of care. Participants attend IOP sessions three to five days a week, with each session lasting a few hours at a time.

Outpatient Program (OP): Traditional outpatient programming helps clients assimilate back into society while still receiving professional support. Our goal is to ensure clients return to their daily lives with the coping skills necessary for a lasting recovery.

Clients attend one individual therapy session during outpatient programming. They may also add 1-2 group sessions per week for a total of 3-4 hours of programming. (Each session must take place on a different day of the week).
