What Is Drug Addiction?

Drug addiction, commonly referred to as a substance use disorder, is a long-term illness marked by the uncontrollable consumption of drugs despite experiencing negative consequences. It impacts brain function, resulting in alterations in behavior, decision-making, and physical well-being. Addiction does not discriminate and can affect individuals of any background, age, or gender. Achieving successful treatment outcomes necessitates professional intervention and unwavering support.

Signs and Symptoms of Drug Addiction

It is crucial for individuals to be aware of the indicators of drug addiction in order to detect them in themselves or those they care about. The exact signs and symptoms associated with a person’s addiction depend on the type of substance being used and the severity of their addiction. However, some common identifiers can be recognized across the board. These include:

Our Drug Rehab Programs in Marietta

Thoroughbred Wellness and Recovery offers premier drug rehab in Marietta, GA. Renowned for our expert team of addiction specialists and mental health experts, our professional team understands the unique hardships each individual faces on their journey to a drug-free life. We offer comprehensive support at every stage of drug addiction treatment through specialized programs designed to guide clients toward a maintainable recovery.

Drug detox is often accompanied by intense withdrawal symptoms, which can be dangerous or even life-threatening without proper medical supervision. With the aid of medication management and round-the-clock monitoring, professional drug detox ensures individuals can safely go through the withdrawal process. At Thoroughbred Wellness and Recovery, we collaborate with top-tier detox centers that help individuals enter treatment with a healthier body and a clearer mind, ready to begin their recovery journey.

Inpatient rehab, also referred to as residential treatment, is intended for individuals who require around-the-clock supervision and care. Participants reside at the facility for the duration of treatment. Similar to detox, we align with trusted inpatient centers where clients can build a solid foundation in their recovery before progressing to one of our outpatient programs.

PHPs offer a high level of support and structure, while still allowing clients to return home or to a sober living facility in the evenings. The program runs five days a week, with each PHP session lasting around four hours. Additionally, the program fosters accountability and continued growth as clients progress toward long-term recovery.

Our IOP offers more flexibility than a PHP, making it ideal for those transitioning from higher levels of care. Clients attend the IOP three to five days a week for several hours each day. This flexible approach ensures that clients receive intensive treatment while maintaining a sense of normalcy and independence during their recovery journey.

An OP ensures a solid therapeutic foundation while encouraging gradual reintegration into everyday life. The least intensive treatment level, clients have the flexibility to work, attend school, and spend time with supportive loved ones during this program. This approach allows participants to blend back into their daily routines while sustaining their sobriety.

Types of Drug Addiction We Treat

Opioids, such as morphine, oxycodone, and hydrocodone, are narcotics known to induce feelings of euphoria and relaxation. These prescription drugs pose substantial risks for abuse and addiction, creating the need for professional intervention.

A highly addictive opioid, heroin poses a widespread risk. This drug often leads to devastating consequences for users and their loved ones. Our treatment center can help those addicted to heroin find healing and recovery on a long-term scale.

Benzodiazepine Addiction

Benzodiazepines, including well-known medications like Xanax, Ativan, and Klonopin, pose a risk for misuse and, as a result, addiction. This highlights a need for comprehensive and tailored treatment programs that address benzodiazepine addiction.
This illicit stimulant causes severe health consequences—many of which pose long-term complications. Meth addiction treatment is crucial for those hoping to achieve a healthy, happy, and safe future.
An extremely potent substance, fentanyl is associated with a high risk of overdose and death. Fentanyl treatment is necessary to mitigate the risks of this substance and save the lives of its users.
Cocaine is a highly addictive stimulant. There are many negative mental and physical repercussions associated with cocaine use. With thorough treatment, individuals can abstain from this substance and achieve a meaningful recovery.

The most commonly abused prescription drugs include opioids (such as OxyContin and Vicodin), benzodiazepines (such as Xanax and Valium), and stimulants (such as Adderall and Ritalin)

Unfortunately, alcohol can be used as a coping mechanism for negative emotions or stressful circumstances. This leads to dependence and addiction in many cases. Recognizing the gravity of this situation is crucial for implementing effective strategies to address and mitigate the impact of alcohol addiction.
A prevalent recreational drug, marijuana is a potential gateway drug that has its own unique consequences. It is essential to highlight the damaging effects of marijuana usage on both the body and the brain to underscore the urgency for targeted treatment and support services.
Kratom has been associated with harmful physiological and psychological effects. Our kratom addiction treatment offers extensive peer support in a nurturing environment.
